Playing Embedded Games

When you need a quick icebreaker or social activity with your team, look no further than our embedded board games. These interactive objects load a web-based game that you can play right within your office.

Available Games

Gather does not own these embedded games. To learn more about them or for support, please visit their respective websites.

How to Add & Play an Embedded Game

You must have access to the Build Tool in order to add a game to your space. You can review User Roles and Permissions here.

  1. Open the Customize Panel (hammer icon) from the bottom navigation bar.
  2. Select the Build tab at the top of the panel and then click the Games category (controller icon).
  3. Select the game you want to add and click on the map to place it.
  4. Anyone can walk up to it and press 'x' to open the game.

How to Add a Custom Web Game

If you have a different web game you want to play with your team, you can embed the URL into an object for easy access.

You can typically embed games in Gather that A) are available online at an https:// URL and B) allow embedding via iframe. You may need to create a private game ahead of time and use that URL.

To add a custom game:

  1. Select the object you want to embed the game into. We recommend the Game box (generic) object.
  2. Open the object settings and choose the Embedded website interaction.
  3. Enter the website URL and set the activation distance (how close someone must be standing to the object in order to interact with it).
  4. Click Confirm and then click on the map to place your object.
  5. Anyone can walk up to it and press 'x' to open the game.

Use Board Game Night through the Rec Room

If you're using an Office Template with a Lounge Room (usually located at the top of the map), you'll find the Rec Room Object inside which will allow you to access Board Game Night: A board game experience where the games are already set up.

If your Office does not yet have a Lounge or the Rec Room, Admins or Mapmakers can open the Object Picker from the Mapmaker and manually place a Rec Room in your office.
