For the best experience on Gather, we recommend using the Desktop App (Mac or Windows) or Mobile App (iOS or Android). Learn more and download here

You can also access Gather from a web browser. We recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome. Learn more about our Browser Support Policy here

Recommendations:

  • If using a mobile device, we recommend using the Gather Mobile App instead of a mobile browser, especially when joining meetings.
  • If using Gather on a web browser, use the latest version for the best experience.

Gather on Linux is not currently supported. If using a Linux machine is necessary, we recommend accessing Gather via Google Chrome. The Gather Desktop App and Gather via Firefox are known to have performance issues on Linux at this time.

System Requirements

Recommended

  • 16 GB RAM
  • High performance CPU, like the following:
    • Apple Silicon M1, M2, M3 processor
    • 11th Gen Intel i5 or i7
    • AMD 5000 series Ryzen 5 or 7
    • Other Intel processors with 6 physical cores or higher
    • Non-Intel processors with 8 physical cores or higher

Expected Experience

  • Full HD quality video and audio
  • All visual camera effects in highest quality (background blur, visual backgrounds)
  • Heavy multitasking

Minimum

  • 8 GB RAM
  • Modern CPU with 4 physical cores, like the following:
    • Any Apple Processor
    • 8th Gen Intel i3, i5 and up
    • 6th Gen Intel i7 and up
    • AMD 3000 series Ryzen 5 or 7

Expected Experience

  • High quality video and audio
  • Limited visual camera effects
  • Limited multitasking

Recommended Internet Speeds

  • 10 Mbps internet download speed
  • 3 Mbps internet upload speed

You will still be able to experience most features of Gather with minimum internet speeds of 3 Mbps download and 1 Mbsp upload. As you connect to more people, however, you may experience greater lag in the experience.

Gather's performance may vary based on the total number of video feeds you are connected to and whether you have "HD Video Quality" toggled on. You can edit this in User Settings

The number of videos you are connected to is based on the number of people you are actively video chatting with. It will be more taxing on your computer if you are connected to 20 or more participants as opposed to being connected to one or two people.
